Duties and Responsibilities of the Front Desk Receptionist:
Greet patients as they enter the office and help create a warm and caring environment.
Develop a good rapport with the patients Patient Check in/Check out during office hours and help schedule any follow up appointment that are needed.
Help answer phone calls and schedule new patients.
Perform confirmation calls to verify the upcoming patient schedules.
Track, contact, and reschedule all cancelled and no-show appointments.
Review patient demographic information in PM/EHR and update/add pharmacy information.
Collect co-pays and patient balances.
Scan ID and insurance card into the PM/EHR Unlock/lock and organize waiting room daily.
Maintain information in a confidential manner.
Participate in compliance training for the office.
Identifies and reports compliance issues or concerns to Compliance Officer for resolution.
Participate in OHSA training for the office.
Perform other jobs as needed.
Requirements:
Qualifications of the Front Desk Receptionist:
Knowledge of business office procedures.
Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type patient information.
Skill in operating a computer and photocopy machine.
Skill in greeting patients and answering telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
Education:
High School Graduate
Experience:
Prefer one-year experience, preferably in a medical setting.
Knowledge of medical terminology desirable.
Computer skill and experience.
Certificate/license requirements:
None Typical Physical Demands:
Work may require sitting for long periods of time, also stooping, bending, and stretching for paperwork and supplies.
Requires working knowledge of electronic record system.
Occasional lifting of paper weighing up to 30 pounds.
Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, type 60 WPM, operate a telephone, copier and fax and scanner as necessary.
It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods of time and to work in an environment which can be very stressful.
Typical Working Conditions:
Work is performed in the front office area and involves frequent contact with patients.
Multitasking ability and strong organizational skills are a must as there can be a lot going on at the front.
Interaction with others is constant and interruptive.
